A hydraulic thumb turns an excavator from a digging machine into a handling machine. Clamped against the bucket it grips brush, branches, rock, broken concrete, root balls and awkward timber – the material you would otherwise be dragging by hand or lifting with a chain.
This is a three-finger thumb sized for machines between 1 and 3.5 tons, with 165 degrees of travel from stowed to fully closed. The tines are hardened steel with a curve matched to a standard digging bucket, so material is trapped rather than squeezed out. The cylinder is guarded behind the tine backing plate, which is what stops a thumb being wrecked the first time it is set down on rubble. Hoses and steel fittings are included.
Fitment – check these three numbers
| Machine weight range | 1 – 3.5 tons |
|---|---|
| Pin diameter | 1.57 – 1.97 in. (40 – 50 mm) – pin and bush kit supplied |
| Width between mounting ears | 5.9 – 7.9 in. (150 – 200 mm) – spacer bushes supplied |
| Auxiliary hydraulic flow required | 5 – 14 gpm |
Every excavator we sell falls inside that range and inside that flow window (5.3 gpm on the MX-10 and MX-10E up to 13.2 gpm on the MX-35), so this thumb fits and runs on all five. If your machine is not one of ours, send us those numbers and we will confirm before you order.

Warranty and support
Covered by the manufacturer’s written warranty supplied with it – ask us for the exact terms in writing before you order. Replacement hoses, seals and bushes are ordered through us at info@nestiques.com.
WARNING: this product can expose you to chemicals including lead, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm. For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.
Looking after it: grease the tine pivot and the cylinder pins daily, and never use the thumb to pry – the cylinder is sized for clamping load, not for levering a rock out of the ground. Check the hose routing at full boom curl before the first job so nothing chafes.
At 165 lb this attachment is beyond parcel limits, so it ships free on an LTL freight carrier, curbside on a pallet with a liftgate, to any address in the United States. The carrier calls you to book a delivery window. Dispatch takes 1 – 2 business days and transit a further 3 – 6. Unused attachments can be returned within 30 days of delivery.
